Muffet McGraw

With the state of Indiana having such a rich history of basketball success, it was only fitting that when Muffet McGraw stepped on to the Notre Dame campus, she would continue that winning tradition. After a brief stint at Lehigh, McGraw joined the Fighting Irish in 1987 and led them to their first NCAA appearance in 1992. Over the next 25 years, McGraw led the Golden Dome to unprecedented success including seven Final Fours and five appearances in the national championship game. In 2001, Notre Dame won the NCAA national championship and McGraw was named Naismith Coach of the Year, an award she has earned three times. In 2016, McGraw won her 800th game to go along with several regular season conference titles and conference tournament championships. Notre Dame is consistently ranked in the top ten thanks to McGraw’s strong commitment to recruiting and her tireless effort to learn new tactics in order to improve herself and her players.
