CBS Sports Network to Televise Doubleheader on Friday, December 9
PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the field of teams and game schedule for the 2016 American Family Insurance Hoophall West, an annual basketball showcase now in its fourth year. The event serves as the west coast version of the original Springfield, Massachusetts-based Hoophall Classic – an event that has featured many of the top prep teams and players over the past 15 years. Hoophall West game action will take place at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale on December 9th and 10th.

This year’s marquee matchups, which will be televised by CBS Sports Network on Friday, December 9, include Saint Mary’s (AZ) vs. Christ the King (NY) and Bishop Gorman (NV) vs. Chino Hills (CA). CBS Sports Network is available across the country through local cable, video and telco providers and via satellite on DirecTV Channel 221 and Dish Network Channel 158. Other exciting matchups will feature Corona del Sol (AZ) vs. Moreau Catholic (CA), Basha (AZ) vs. Lake Oswego (OR), and Hillcrest Prep (AZ) vs. Westbury Christian (TX). Extensive coverage of Hoophall West including game stories, photos and player interviews will be provided by USA TODAY HSS. Additionally, several matchups will be streamed live online by FloHoops. GameChanger will serve as the official stats provider of the event with live updates available online.
Last year’s Hoophall West games were highlighted by Sam Cunliffe (Arizona State) and Zach Norvell (Gonzaga) and Mike Bibby, Jr. (South Florida). This year’s standouts for the Class of 2017 include #1 ranked player DeAndre Ayton (Hillcrest Prep, AZ, Arizona), LiAngelo Ball (Chino Hills, CA, UCLA), Alex Barcello (Corona del Sol, AZ, Arizona) and Jaren Jackson (La Lumiere, IN, Michigan State). From the Classes of 2018 and 2019, players to watch include K.J. Hymes (Saint Mary’s, AZ), LaMelo Ball (Chino Hills, CA, UCLA) and Onyeka Okongwu (Chino Hills, CA).
