Charlotte vs. Liberty |
Despite being separated by a three-hour drive, this is the inaugural meeting between Charlotte and Liberty.
Quotes from Head Coaches:
"We are excited and honored to be a part of the Basketball Hall of Fame Series and compete against a quality opponent like Liberty. It's even more special for our program and fans to be able to play at the Spectrum Center for the second time in three years. It will be a great day of college basketball in the Queen City." Aaron Fearne | Charlotte
“We have been fortunate enough to play in some of the Hall of Fame events in the past. What a first-class event they produce! Add that to the fact that we get to play a quality opponent such as Charlotte, and it certainly feels like a great opportunity for our program.” Ritchie McKay | Liberty
Virginia vs. Florida |
The two schools will meet in the regular season for the first time. Florida leads the all-time series, 2-1, after defeating Virginia in the second round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament in Orlando (Florida [4] - 65, Virginia [5] - 39).
Quotes from Head Coaches:
“We are excited to bring our team to the Hall of Fame Series in Charlotte. This highly-competitive matchup against Florida will challenge us and provide quality experience during the non-conference season.” Tony Bennett | Virginia
“Big-time games like this are part of why we love being at Florida, and we’re excited to play in front of all the great Gators in Charlotte again. It provides an opportunity for us as competitors to match up against a program we have a lot of respect for, and we appreciate the Basketball Hall of Fame’s effort in organizing and hosting this event.” Todd Golden | Florida
Virginia Tech vs. South Carolina |
The former conference foes last met on December 5, 1997, in Charlotte (Gamecocks won, 74-73). South Carolina leads the all-time series, 18-13, including a 3-2 mark in neutral site matchups. Virginia Tech last won a neutral site game vs. South Carolina on December 22, 1960, in Salem, Virginia. The Gamecocks will play in Charlotte for the first time since Dec. 2, 2000, at UNC Charlotte.
Quotes from Head Coaches:
"Charlotte and the Spectrum Center have been terrific hosts to us in the past, and we look forward to returning there in November. This will be our second appearance in a Basketball Hall of Fame event in Charlotte in three years. Great competition, terrific venue, ideal location - what more could you ask for?" Mike Young | Virginia Tech
“We are excited to have the opportunity to compete against a quality ACC opponent in the 2023 Basketball Hall of Fame Shootout. It’s going to be a great event in a highly competitive atmosphere, and it will be a great opportunity for our fans to have an early look at our team. I have a ton of respect for Mike Young and his staff at Virginia Tech, as we competed for years against each other in the SoCon. The Queen City is Gamecock Country, and we look forward to a sea of Garnet and Black in the stands downtown at the Spectrum Center.” Lamont Paris | South Carolina
