- Arizona State and Grand Canyon to Participate in a Doubleheader in the Desert -
PHOENIX – Position Sports, in association with the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, announced that Arizona State’s and Grand Canyon’s men’s and women’s programs will face off in the 2024 Hall of Fame Series Phoenix at Footprint Center on Thursday, November 14.
Tickets for the Hall of Fame Series Phoenix will go on sale on Wednesday, May 22, at 10:00 AM PT (1:00 PM ET) at HOFSeries.com.
Details surrounding game times, broadcast information, and credentials will be announced at a later date.
The Hall of Fame Series, owned and operated by Position Sports, is a collection of multi-game, singular events that showcase several of the top collegiate basketball teams in exciting non-conference matchups played both domestically and abroad. The inaugural Hall of Fame Series was held in 2023 in Las Vegas, Charlotte, San Antonio, Toronto, and Phoenix.

Arizona State vs. Grand Canyon (W) Series History |
The Sun Devils lead the series, 3-1. Grand Canyon defeated Arizona State in the last meeting on December 8, 2023, in Tempe (66-59). The Sun Devils won the first three matchups: December 4, 1992, in Tempe (83-30), December 22, 1994 (99-67) in Phoenix, and November 30, 2022, in Phoenix (80-72).

The Sun Devils have won all three matchups vs. the crosstown Lopes. Arizona State and Grand Canyon first met on January 22, 1980, in Tempe (80-68), then again after a 40-year hiatus on December 13, 2020, in Phoenix (71-70). The programs most recently played on December 9, 2021, in Tempe (67-62).
Arizona State and Grand Canyon also met in a pair of exhibition games: November 5, 2011, in Phoenix (ASU won 89-69 in the official opening of GCU Arena) and November 3, 2007, in Tempe (ASU won 80-53 in James Harden’s first game in a Sun Devil uniform).

Women: ASU (80), Fresno State (76) - Kadidia Toure led the team with a season-high 22 points and 9 rebounds in 34 minutes off the bench for the Sun Devils.

Women: Gonzaga (81), Arizona (69) - Yvonne Ejim (27 pts.) and Eliza Hollingsworth (11 rebs.) led the team to a win over Arizona in the program’s first meeting.

Men: Northwestern (65), ASU (46) - Boo Buie finished with 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists, and Brooks Barnhizer added 16 points and 9 rebounds in the meeting between former Duke guards (Bobby Hurley and Chris Collins).

Men: Arizona (87), Alabama (74) - Oumar Ballo finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Pelle Larsson had 16 points and 6 rebounds as the No. 11 Wildcats upset the third-ranked Crimson Tide.
