Basketball Hall of Fame to Host 9th Annual Hoophall West in Scottsdale

Newly Added Four-Game Showcase to Take Place at the Footprint Center, Home to the Phoenix Suns and Mercury 

Phoenix, Ariz. – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Arizona Basketball Coaches Association announced today the field of teams and game schedule for the 2021 Hoophall West, an annual basketball showcase now in its ninth year. The event serves as the west coast version of the original Springfield, Massachusetts-based Hoophall Classic – the Hall of Fame will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hoophall Classic at Springfield College from January 13-17 in 2022. Hoophall West game action will take place at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale from Wednesday, December 8th to Saturday, December 11th. New to the 2021 Hoophall West is a highly anticipated four-game showcase that will take place at the new Footprint Center, home to the Phoenix Suns and Mercury, in Downtown Phoenix on December 11th, with the first game starting at 4:00 p.m. 

“As the Hall of Fame welcomes back live events, we are thrilled to return to Scottsdale, Arizona for our ninth annual Hoophall West, where top local and national talent will meet to compete,” said John L. Doleva, President & CEO of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. “This year, our event will feature incredible talent recognized by ESPN as being the top players in their respective class nationwide. Hoophall West provides the opportunity to see the brightest stars in the game at the highest level.” 

Marquee matchups for 2021 include Dream City Christian (AZ) vs. Arizona Compass (AZ), Sunnyslope (AZ) vs. Centennial (CA), St. Mary’s (AZ) vs. Bishop Gorman (NV), Notre Dame Prep (AZ) vs. Seton Catholic (AZ), and Perry (AZ) vs. Sierra Canyon (CA). This year’s event will feature girls’ matchups on both Wednesday and Thursday to kick off the event, featuring top tier talent from Arizona. This year’s games will feature ten athletes ranked in ESPN’s Top 20 for the Class of 2022: #1 Shaedon Sharpe (Dream City Christian, Kentucky), #4 Amari Bailey (Sierra Canyon, UCLA), #5 Dariq Whitehead (Montverde Academy, Duke), #11 Vincent Iwuchukwu (Montverde Academy, USC), #12 Chris Livingston (Oak Hill Academy, Kentucky), #15 Dior Johnson (Prolific Prep, Oregon), #16 Skyy Clark (Montverde Academy, Kentucky), 

#17 Adem Bona (Prolific Prep, Undecided), #18 Dillion Mitchell (Montverde Academy, Undecided) #20 M.J. Rice (Prolific Prep, Kansas).
