- Sculpture and exhibition honors 2024 ALX100 honorees and their impactful contributions to communities across Massachusetts -

SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, in partnership with Amplify LatinX, announced that the ALX100 Sculpture is on display in the Hall of Fame’s main concourse until December 16. The Basketball Hall of Fame is the only chosen destination in Western Massachusetts to display the exhibit.

The traveling exhibition celebrates this year’s ALX100 honorees. The annual list recognizes and celebrates the contributions of a hundred Latino leaders influencing and shaping the Commonwealth – many are innovators, business owners, elected officials, and leaders.

This year’s exhibit features a specially commissioned sculpture by artist and 2024 ALX100 honoree Patiño Vazquez, representing community unity and the interconnected contributions of the honorees.

“We are honored to be chosen as the only community partner in Western Massachusetts to host this important exhibit,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. “Supporting Amplify LatinX’s mission aligns perfectly with our commitment to celebrating diversity, inclusion, and the power of basketball to bring communities together. This collaboration underscores the enduring impact of cultural unity and collective empowerment within our community.”

The ALX100 Honorees Reception will be held tonight, Wednesday, December 4, from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Basketball Hall of Fame. Cesar Ruiz, the first Latino elected official in Massachusetts and ALX100 honoree, Andrew Melendez, Director of the Latino Economic Development Corporation, and State Representative Carlos González will be in attendance.

“We are thrilled to bring the ALX100 exhibit to Springfield, a vibrant gateway city with a rich Latino history and one of the key cities in Massachusetts for our ALX Business Program,” said Eneida Román, President and CEO of Amplify LatinX. “Hosting the ALX100 sculpture and reception at the Basketball Hall of Fame, a cultural landmark and symbol of excellence and teamwork, celebrates the strength and impact of the Latino community in Springfield and across Massachusetts. Just as sports unite and inspire, this exhibit celebrates the resilience and contributions of Latino leaders throughout the state.”

Media are invited to attend the 2024 ALX100 Celebración Tour at the Hall of Fame. Media inquiries can be directed to Joe Casale, [email protected].
