Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Announces Modifications to its Enshrinement Process Beginning with the Class of 2018

Dec 19, 2017 - SPRINGFIELD, MA – On the Birthday of Basketball, December 21st, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame will announce its list of eligible candidates for the Class of 2018 with modifications to its enshrinement process. The most significant modification will allow Players, Referees and Coaches to now become eligible on the ballot for Hall of Fame honors after three full seasons of retirement. The change was one of two proposals for change presented by the Election Process Committee and passed unanimously by the Hall of Fame Board.

Nov 10, 2017 - SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced today the 20 watch list candidates for the 2018 Lisa Leslie Award. Named after the three-time All-American and 1994 National Player of the Year, the annual award in its inaugural year recognizes the top centers in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball.

Nov 09, 2017 - SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced today the 20 watch list candidates for the 2018 Katrina McClain Award. Named after the two-time All-American and 1987 National Player of the Year, the annual award in its inaugural year recognizes the top power forwards in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball.

Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame to Receive $75,000 Contribution from Chicopee Savings Bank Charitable Foundation

Nov 08, 2017 - Springfield, Mass. — Early in 2015, Jerry Colangelo, Chairman of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame’s Board of Governors, announced the launch of the Basketball Hall of Fame’s “It’s Time to Step Forward” Capital Campaign to support the renovation of the museum and solidify the Hall’s endowment. In the nearly three years since, $25 million has been pledged, primarily from members of the national basketball community. Today, the Chicopee Savings Bank Charitable Foundation announces its gift of 75 thousand dollars to the campaign, joining several other Massachusetts-based entities in support of the Hall.
