Lynette Woodard

A four-time Kodak All-America at the University of Kansas, Lynette Woodard is widely considered one of the greatest female players of all time. Her magnetic personality and warm smile could not hide her intense desire to outdo her opponent and win basketball games. A versatile performer who was capable of playing all five positions on the court, Woodard is the AIAW's all-time leading scorer with 3,649 points. She also ranks first in eight statistical categories at Kansas including points, rebounds, and steals. A two-time Olympian and captain of the gold-medal winning 1984 United States Olympic Team, Woodard enjoyed a successful professional career playing overseas in Italy and later Japan. In 1985, she became the first female member of the famed Harlem Globetrotters. In 1997, Woodard came out of retirement to play two seasons with the WNBA’s Cleveland Rockers and Detroit Shock.
