Alexander "Alex" English
Alex English was one of the most respected, well-rounded, and dominant players in the game during the 1980s. He was a coach's dream - confident and quiet, coachable and prepared, and always ready to play. An offensive force with unmatched shooting and driving skills, English was a prolific scorer. Smooth, efficient, and graceful, he was the first player in NBA history to score 2,000 points in eight straight seasons. He set 31 Denver Nuggets all-time records in a ten-year stretch. The Nuggets fast-paced offense played to his strengths and when needed, English possessed an offensive repertoire that helped him create his own shot and fill up the basket with ease. Playing for Hall of Fame coach Frank McGuire at South Carolina, English ranked first in scoring and third in rebounding when he graduated. English was the only player in school history to start every game, score 1,000 points, and grab 1,000 rebounds.
