Players of the Year 

 

The Basketball Hall of Fame Western Massachusetts Player of the Year Award recognizes outstanding high school basketball players from Western Massachusetts. Annually awarded to one male and one female player, the accolade celebrates their athletic achievements, leadership, and academic excellence. This prestigious honor is given to seniors who have excelled on the court and demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship and community involvement.  The award is presented at the Western Massachusetts All-Star Game at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.

RYAN VEDOVELLI

Pope Francis Prep

Vedovelli is a standout athlete and scholar, averaging 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists over four years at Pope Francis. A 1,000 point scorer and three-time Western Mass Champion in basketball, he’s also earned All-Western Mass honors in basketball, soccer, and baseball. He became Pope Francis' all-time leading scorer and was named Player of the Game at the Hoophall Classic. With a 4.0 GPA, he's committed to play basketball at WPI and is active in Key Club, Special Olympics, and the National Honor Society.

OLIVIA CHRZAN

Monson High School

Chrzan, a key player since seventh grade, led Monson Girls Basketball to WMass D Varsity Championships in 2019 and 2020. As captain, she guided the team to the WMass Class D Championship and State Tournament. She holds the Monson High scoring record with 2,287 points and averaged 28 points, 12 rebounds, while also putting up three triple-doubles in her senior year. A First Team All Western-Mass selection every year since seventh grade, she ranks second in her class with a 100.5 GPA.
